The Butterfly Gathering is a local folk fair originated from Du Chaoxuan Killing A Python,a legendary love story of Bai people.On every April 15 of lunar calendar the youths of Bai people gather around the Butterfly Spring seeking for romance and love. It happens to be the flowering season with colorful butterflies flying near the spring.Many Chinese and foreign tourists join the folk fair making it a big and joyful event. In June 2009 the People's Government of Dali Prefecture entitled it into the Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
